This last weekend of July, five of us spent the morning in-shore fishing with Captain Dana. We were greeted at the boat, quickly boarded as we chattered about the morning’s fishing strategy, and then thoroughly enjoyed the cruise to our first location – bait! There was no shortage of mackerel for the live well and the banter of biggest and most fish caught immediately started. Dana’s knowledge of the Cape Ann area and Gloucester proper was more than evident as he eased us from fishing spot to fishing spot, and technique to technique. We jigged, we trolled, we chunked. Blues on the troll, stripers on the chunk and a variety of ground fish while doing a little bottom ledge fishing. The 28″ minimum length on the stripers alluded our group this Saturday morning, but a variety of fish were caught and someone on the boat was routinely “tight lined.” The Captain’s pleasant, practical and open demeanor complimented a perfect blue bird day. He was gracious, open, fun to fish with and will tend to you as a first time fisherman or a seasoned veteran of the water.
We WILL return for sure.
Cheers & wishing “Tight Lines” to LAG Time Charters, a cheery thanks to Captain Dana Decaro, and to all that will spend time wetting lines with one of Gloucester’s own, . . . have a blast, WE DID!
