What time do trips start? – Sunrise is the best time to be fishing and I would recommend starting as early as possible; however we’ll adjust start times to your needs. Afternoon/evening trips are also available.

Where are you located? – My boat is docked in Rocky Neck, but I’ll be picking you up at Cripple Cove Landing.   Follow directions to the “Zeke’s Place” restaurant. The landing is just across the street.  There is free parking there as well.

What type of fish will we target? – What we fish for will be completely up to you.  We can fish for one or more species depend on the season and conditions.

What type of fishing will we do? – The preferred method for Stripers is using live bait.  We’ll start out the trip trying to locate and catch our bait. The baits are then trolled at very low speeds behind the boat.  We can be fishing along the shore in 4-5 feet of water or up to 3 miles off the coast in 200 plus feet of water.  It will all depend on where we’ve caught fish on recent trips or weather and sea conditions.

Plugs or artificial lures are best for Blue fish. We can troll swimming plugs to catch them or use popping plugs if we run into frenzy.

Flounders like sea worms or clams best. We’ll find a spot with a nice sandy bottom to anchor up and drop our baits to the bottom.

Ground fishing; we’ll be fishing in deeper water using clams for bait or large jigs. We’ll look for underwater ledges and drift over them to find the fish.

How many fish can we keep? – Massachusetts state laws only allow the following;

  • Striped Bass, one fish/person greater than 28” in length.
  • Blue fish, 10 fish, no size limit.
  • Winter Flounder, 8 fish greater than 12” in length.
  • Yellowtail Flounder, no limit, all fish must be greater than 13” in length.
  • Haddock, 15 fish limit, all fish must be greater than 17” in length.
  • Cod, sorry, we can’t keep any.

Do you clean our catch? – Absolutely.  I encourage catch and release fishing; but I’ll be more than happy to clean your catch.

Can I drink alcohol on the fishing trip? – Alcohol is allowed, but in cans or plastic bottles only.  No glass please.

Should I bring my own cooler? – A small cooler is fine.  I have coolers on the boat for fish and for drinks.

What do we do if the weather is bad? – The Captain will monitor the weather conditions and decide if it is safe to go fishing.  Safety is our first priority; we will not be able to fish in poor conditions.  I will request your cell phone number when confirming your trip.  I will contact you a day or two in advance to inform you of any cancellations or delays.

Do you have a bathroom on the boat? – There is a porta-potti located in the center console.  The center console is large enough to accommodate most folks.

Do you allow kids on charters? – Of course!  There’s nothing better than helping kids catch their first fish. Kids under 12 are free. Of course they must be old enough to fish by themselves.
